If you just use a standard pot then both your south coils will be permanently linked in parallel. This will be fine when the pot is in 'full split', as both coils are shorted to ground. But, when it's not being split, as both of the south coils are linked they will both pass into the north coil of the selected pickup. So, select 'bridge only' on the toggle and you'll have both bridge and neck south coils going into bridge north etc.

A concentric pot will allow you to split them individually, or a dual gang will split them together but still keep the signals separate.

    Make sense?
    Scott.

Just figured out my pots won't fit! I'm going to have to drill the goddamn holes out.

Perfect sense. I'll split the bridge for now then and get a dual gang some other time. Thanks mate.

I don't have any drill bits in between, I have a brad point bit in between, but it would not centre itself. Plus the drill bit I have is insanely sharp, and scary. Reverse is a good idea.

no worries Pabs, just take it real slowly.
I was drilling the switch hole on my LP and drilled from below and realised after I tore out a bit on the top, but luckly its hidden by the rtyhym/treble cover !

One of those things that wouldn't have been a problem a few weeks ago...if I'd noticed!

Pabs just get a simple set from the place that shall not be named! I have a set by Frost and it works nicely! Plus mine goes from 1mm-10mm in 0.5mm increments so when I start slowly in reverse it bites and centres, then I chuck it out of reverse and SLOWLY drill it out.
