    Deep Colour 1st Coats

Did the sanding, and applied some of the deep colour coats over the last few days.

Burning Sun Deep colour coat applied to the front. Little bit miffed at how the shaped away spalt cap looks at the edges. Probably would have used a darker stain. On the other hand, I like the flame that has popped out.

Hot Auburn for the back and sides. The marks that can bee seen way back in my unboxing shots didn't sand away and didn't take stain very well. Not sure what they are; kind of an odd shape for putty. Good thing it's on the back.

Hey Sam that first coat looks unreal. Burning sun really suits the spalt cap and brings out some flames.
Looks like glue marks on the back. You can try sand them out now or they will still be there after multiple coats. The factory workers probably had glue on their hand when handling the body when gluing the cap on and touched the back of the body

They were sort of brown before the stain.

Didn't seem to change when I sanded them. Will give it another go tomorrow and then reapply the deep coat if I need to.

sure Sam, those marks could be in the grain but when the stain is on looks too much like glue marks to me.
Wait till DB has a look and comments. While you only got 1 coat on worth trying to sand them a bit

Sanding the marks seems to have made some difference at least.

After sanding I reapplied some of the deep colour coat.

Yhep. They are glue marks but looks like you got them sorted out...
If they still show after another coat try dabbing some colour on and let that dry for at least a week before re coating.

Huge improvement Sam, after a few more deep colour coats those marks won't be visible at all

Nearly forgot to stain the headstock. Gave it a going over with the sandpaper and applied the Burning Sun deep colour coat to match the body.

Haven't decided yet if the neck will be just plain clear or if I'll use some amber on it.

    headstock looks great Sam.
I left my neck natural for the contrast and the back of the neck with the 5 ply laminate looks really nice in natural clear
