Also I've found that my pickup shrouds are too thick for the floyd rose, does anybody know a way to make the shrouds thinner? Is it just a simple as putting on a belt sander? Or do I have to get new shrouds?

    Hi Kurt,
do you mean the pup surrounds are too thick ? Your floyd rose must butt up close to the bridge cavity route.
With the wire colours the Rocksongs have a diagram included and explain the colours for coil splitting neck and bridge pups. Think the wire colours are different for the Entwistles.
The bare wire is the ground wire.
In terms of wire the braided wire should give less interference than the wire that comes with the kit

Sorry I should have explained what I meant by thick. It's too tall, the surround when in place would touch the strings if in place so they have to come lower somehow 😊

ah ok Kurt, easy fix presuming the pup surrounds are plastic get some 40 grit sandpaper on a flat surface and sand the height down and test the height regularly.
Sometimes the flat top kits come with archtop surrounds so you need it flat anyway

Ah sorry, I thought you posted that you were getting a set of Entwistles. Here's the Tonerider version:

The longer wire run to the selector toggle switch would be better with shielded multi-core wire, but the stock wire is ok for the short connections within the shielded control cavity etc.

Right so the new screws came for the locking nut today.. Fits perfect but we're made from soften steel, stripped instantly -.- thinking about just supergluing the nut in place because I'm so over dealing with screws that are impossible to find haha

sounds like a good option Kurt if you want to finish the build ! Sure you will be able to remove the nut if really required

Use the stripped screws as locating pins so your nut will line up nicely Kurt, superglue is normally used on normal nuts anyway, I'd also suggest a light scuffing of the bottom surface on the nut to help the glue adhere

Alright, next update, wiring is finished, done, out of the way, capiche. Took me all day i am not even kidding. Next step is to pre drill holes for all the screws for the cover plates and pickups (pickups are currently taped in place to prevent them from falling out). Held my phones speaker up to the pickups while playing music to check that everything worked, and it does. Can even hear a slight change in sound with music when the coil switch is hit.

Now my phone won't let me paste photos, but I have a facebook page for all the builds I'm doing so there's a photo of the spaghetti monster on there :P. Just look up 'Kurts Custom Instruments' it's a picture of the MB-1.

    Cheers,
    Kurt.
