The most likely possibility is Flindersia brayleyana (common name QLD maple or maple silkwood).

There are 17 trees in the Flindersia family, all are native to the Moluccan, New Guinea and Australia regions.
    Shows what I know:P

So I got the rough shape cut out tonight, I haven't got a long flush cut router bit so I'll just have to even out the shape with the sander, a bit slower but should hopefully end up with the same outcome.
She's a damn heavy hunk of wood, fingers crossed the carve should lighten it up a little bit.

Cheers dude, I was definitely the most nervous about doing the neck pocket, I can relax a bit now. Hopefully it should be plain sailing from here on out (famous last words)...

Looking good Barge you are always full steam ahead. If the body Is heavy you may have to chamber it. I had to on my latest scratchy. You still got to route pup and control cavities so it will be a bit lighter

So what colour stain you got in mind bro ?
I picked the wood up through these blokes http://www.guitarmakersemporium.com.au/ Wokks, like I said at the start, I'm leaning towards that blue/black burst like on the LP on page 1. I'm probably gonna use tattoo ink again, it's just so easy to work with and I really liked the results I got on the "Rayzor"

Yeah, like you say, rout out those cavities and carve the top and it should lighten the load a bit. I can't really see how I could chamber this one.

Depends how big will the control cavity be? If you aren't chambering it make a larger Control cavity will shed more weight
