I agree with everything you've said here Stan, the only person I was "blaming" was the manufacturer.
The issue I have is the fact that I overlooked the bung neck at the start, and I freely admit that, but because I didn't catch the neck issue, the problem has somehow become my fault, does that seem fair??
If this was a one time deal I would have happily sucked it up, accepted the replacement neck offer and never looked back. Unfortunately this is the second kit in a row that I'd poured my heart and soul into only to find I'd wasted all that time, money and effort for naught, so one could possibly be forgiven for being a bit upset (and I am upset). My stubborn nature won't allow me to suck it up a second time, and I'm probably cutting off my nose to spite my face but I'm standing on principles.
I think this is a fault that in truth most people wouldn't of picked up.
Until the final setup, as it's hard to spot. It's certainly not something I've
Had on any of my kits . And on checking several of my own bought guitars,
They don't have it either. I haven't bought a kit in a while guys .Do the guitars
Come with a list of things to check pre build. If not may be a wise move in the future
especially for newbies and just to refresh our memories.

KB the kits come with a quick starters guide. like a double sided A3 sheet folded. It's fairly brief but covers the basics (I haven't read it for a while) and does talk about mock builds. Think it says to refer to video guides online as well.
Might pay to add in the starter guide in the mock build section to give the neck a once over and possibly put both E strings on (or outside strings of a bass kit) before you start the build to see if the necks are ok.
I think Barge must have walked under a ladder or broken a mirror, I've built probably close to 50 kits and never had such issues he's had

Just a simple things to check on your guitar upon opening the box. Not sure a newbie would know what a twisted or warped neck would look like . Or how about Builders welcome video going through the check over procedure. Then Everyone will know the steps to take.
pretty sure the supplied bridge also gave too far a distance between 12th fret and saddles.
Could have shaved off the neck heel a bit and/or re-routed the bridge hole a little more forward should have achieved intonation.

Nige I know you are a guy who plays a straight bat with these things and you simply say what is on your mind.
I think I said it previously, maybe not as well, I think this one is a manufacturing fault and as such, regardless of the progress of the build, should be covered by Pitbull.
If I thought I could pull frets and not do further damage, I'd offer to re radius the fretboard and get it right for you (I think I could get the fretboard right, but I've never pulled frets...)
