    Cheers Andrew;-)

I got hold of some dirt cheap black trem springs on Gumtree which arrived today, gave the spring claw a lick of primer/paint as well as the bottom of the trem and it's all looking pretty tidy now. Just the earth wire to sort out and that's the body complete. I'll probably replace the yellow factory earth with a piece of braided steel stuff just to keep it nice. I'm not real sure why the factory feels the need to drill such a massive hole for the earth, so I might have to mull over that one and come up with a fix since I'm not using a cover on the back.

Nige , What about drilling a dowel with hole just big enough to take the earth then plugging it hopefully you can make/buy one to match.

    Hey thanks Azri:-)

@Kim, yeah that might be the go. I was bloody scouring the shed floor last night looking for some ash offcuts to make up a bit of filler but I'd thrown them all away in the last clean up. It would have been perfect for milling out a little ash dowel. :BARGIES TIP O THE DAY, KEEP YOUR OFFCUTS, YOU JUST NEVER KNOW!
The other problem with these factory earth holes is how they actually do it, mine's got big massive chip outs all round the hole like they used a blunt, 50 year old bit. I guess they figure it's covered up so it doesn't matter:P

I guessed the hole size was a standard thing across the range, I'm just not sure why...
So you reckon use a cover?

I'd vote a huge NO on the cover personally since most of the drill site is hidden I think a fill with glue + dust would work best. The clean lines around the trem cavity work really work on this. Keeps it connected to the top's sweeps

Yep cheers Nicko, I'm inclined to agree. I just went out in the shed and found a whole pack of 10mm dowels I'd forgotten I had, so as of now there's no more ugly hole in the cavity anymore.
I've got a bit of maple veneer left over and I was thinking of lining the bottom of the cavity with that. maybe even sandblast a big DLG into the veneer before I glue it down.
The biggest problem I see is getting the veneer to fit dead perfect in the bottom of the cavity. I guess just keep cutting cardboard templates until something works. Open to suggestions.

Yeah Barge I get a piece of paper taped over the cavity and scribble a pencil sideways over the edge and it will leave a clear line of the outline. Cut that out and overlay over the veneer and cut the veneer to fit the cavity. Should look choice

Roger that bro, I'll have a crack in the morning. I'll have to go and see my ol' mate and get some more vinyl cut out. Might go double thickness this time as the maple might take a bit more penetrating with the sandblaster. I don't even know if it will work, and if it does it will hardly be visible anyway.
