    Hi Scott,

The other side looks like it will be OK. It is just the B that is 2 or 3 mm out of alignment.

I was thinking that as the washer and mechanism will cover it that I would cut the plug 1 or 1-1/2 mm shorter than the thickness.

I'll run a 10 mm drill through, by hand to clear and debris.

I'll use a rawhide hammer if I can, failing that a 8 or 9 mm drift from the back.

Then the clean up will only be glue that gets out. The tape is a good idea.

I'll be drilling it in a press so I hope the wander isn't too great.

I bet that 10 mm dowel pins only come in bags of 100

Yep, I can post you a few if you don't want a whole pack. They do have fluted sides though...

Thanks for the offer Stan, I'll swing past the local furniture guy and see if I can't swap a beer for a handful.

Put a little metal pin in it to offset the E string around the B-string tuner. You could do it on both sides so it looks like its intentional.

Maybe one of those little clippy bits on a strat?

    Run the D & G through it.

I'd have to say judging by accuracy (or lack of), and shear amount of problems with tuner hole placements, they probably are hand drilled....by a monkey. This is not an isolated issue.
