Went back and had a look at the neck which has been curing for a couple of weeks now.
Here is a tip:
Don't apply a finish if you have a tumble dryer running in your workshop.
Just found all sorts if lint and dust stuck to what was going to be the final coat. I've had to knock most of it back with 320 grit and steel wool.
I guess a few more coats won't hurt me!
This on and off wet weather is really beginning to irk me. I actually thought having the warm air from the dryer in the workshop was a help - I didn't realise just how must lint is spewed out of one of those things.

There is but one cure - sanding...
