Hi Kelooe
I work as a paramedic in the fire department. On call shifts are 24 hours and then I have 72 hours off. This repeats. These are exeptional working hours being so long and 42 hours per week. These are only possible if the average time spent on assignments (or what you call them when you're with a patient) is less than 50% of the whole shift during the whole year. The different departments get to apply this kind of arrangement every two years. It's a good thing for a fsmily man - I get to spend time with my kids 5 whole days a week and the wife gets some free time as well.

yep - could not do 24 hours straight every time even though some shifts are with almost zero sleep. Fortunately those don't happen very often. Still - I have a bit of spare time for the project on the job too.
