    Nice work Jeff. The shielded wire is great as you can use the shielding to carry the ground signal. If you do this, the noise will be minimised (grounded shield is always better). You can just solder the shielding to the back of the pots as the wires pass between them, and similarly out to the Jack.

    After much attempted wire solders, great setups that didn't work, tears, burns, research, failed attempts I reached a high point of frustration. Thoughts of giving up were crossing my mind, how much would a guitar tech charge me anyways? But I perserveared thru the guitar building doldrums where you feel like you don't know or understand what is going wrong and why won't you just work for me! Thoughts. Finally with renewed knowledge and prayers I made another attempt at WierdBits elusive circuit. And this time... It worked! Thank God! Really I needed to know a little more about the grounding of shielded wires to make it all happen.
