Simon, for your inspiration this is the French band Lazuli. You will see one of the guys playing a bizarre instrument called a "leode" that he invented after losing the use of one of his arms in a motorcycle accident. They also have a guy playing a Warrguitar which is similar to a Chapman Stick.
    Current:
    GTH-1

    Completed:
    AST-1FB
First Act ME276 (resurrected curb-side find)
    ES-5V
    Scratchie lapsteel
    Custom ST-1 12 String
    JBA-4
    TL-1TB
    Scratch Lapsteel
    Meinl DIY Cajon
    Cigar Box lap steel

    Wishing:
    Baritone
Open D/Standard Double 6 twin neck

Thanks so much for that, now I want want one of those Leode instruments. I will have to research some more. I wonder if they are commercially available? If not I could alway ask the guy who made it if he makes them by request. Thanks again.

    Hi Pussyhores,

Just love the DC. I like the subtle burst.

Taking the option with the loom is a great idea.

I always look for a different option with builds and wiring

After a week of applying Tru-Oil to the neck and body I think I'm almost finished, maybe just a few more and then a final wet sand with my 1200 grit. I would have done about 10 coats to the body so far but I have finished on the neck at 6 coats.
On the third coat I wet sanded with Tru-Oil and 600 grit to pore fill. I had read somewhere that basswood although it was porous did not necessary need a pore fill but I did it anyway and I think it helped.
After every coat I gave it a light 0000 steel wool rub to take out any drip marks and high points. I am quite surprised at the gloss and reflectiveness of the finish.
I plan on leaving for two weeks to cure and harden before I attempt to cut with Meguiars Utimate Compound and polishing with some carnauba wax.
Is two weeks the right time to leave it to cure?

While I have been waiting for the body finish to completely cure I have been working on the headstock. Nothing fancy in the shaping, just a simple angled / cut out of the top. My next power tool acquisition will be a jigsaw so my next headstock shape may be a little more adventurous.
I have sprayed it a semi gloss black enamel, put my logo on and are completing with a few coats of spray clear.
The word "Sonoro" according to the dictionary of Italian musical terms means "Resonant with a deep tone". I thought that was an appropriate description of a guitar so I decided to use it as my headstock logo.
