    And some more

    #1 – Ironing on the veneer using greaseproof paper to protect the veneer
    #2 – All glued up and rough trimmed
    #3 – The gap in the veneer and “some” of the glue stains on body :/

    Thanks Kim and Gav. Although I could not use the section of veneer I wanted I think that it will end up looking OK.

    cheers guys

    Either way this thing will be damn cool Rob! Nice grain on the veneer still though!

    looks great Rob, how will you fix the gap?

    Would using steam be enough to reactivate the glue enough to slide the pieces together?

    @Keloooe
    Thanks mate. Yeah, I'm really starting to like the veneer.

    @Stan
    Thanks mate. Not sure what I'm going to do with the gap. One thing for sure there is no way either sheet is going to move. The instant you apply the heat it is there to stay. Being only .6mm thick the veneer is too fragile to try and move. That's how I managed to rip it in the first place.

    I might try and cut a thin piece of veneer or try some TimberMate. If I can't hide it I will have to highlight it in some way.

    Cheers guys

    Rob, just had a brainwave! I was looking for a new acoustic and saw that some acoustics have a strip of purfling that makes the back join look a lot nicer, maybe rout a small channel and add in a strip of binding? Would be cool to have that and maybe even a strip round the veneer edge if you are up to it!

    Thanks Keloooe, yep, been thinking along those very lines myself, but maybe not quite so intricate. I will try all the easy solutions first to hide the gap and if all else fails I will try your idea to highlight it.

    Thanks mate
