    Andrew, I'd say its basswood, no A for alder or ash in the model in the title.
    The last TL-1R kit I received has some very cool grain in the basswood so the factory seems to be sourcing some nicer grade timbers
    Current Builds and status
    scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
    Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
    scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
    Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

    Thanks Guys,

    @Woks
    Still getting my head around home recording so you’ll have to wait a while for any demo’s from me.

    22 coats of naughty oil.

    @Andrew
    Yep, it’s just Basswood Andrew. I grain filled with a watered down slurry of Jarrah Timbermate. But it doesn’t start to pop until a few coats into the naughty oil.

    @Bargey
    Thanks mate, I’m very happy with the headstock. I swapped necks with my mate to give him the reverse HS so now my next build will be a reverse as well. I can’t wait to see one the right side up. lol.

    Cheers guys

    wow 22 coats of naughty oil, lucky you have lots of spare time Rob !
    Don't think I've got the patience for more than 10 coats these days. I'm tending to think like DB these days and think less is more. Too much shine sometimes takes away the clarity of the grain

    Hey Robin, Another amazing build. Your TO finishes are just beautiful dude. A really beautiful tele that its new owner will be very pleased with. I bet those pickups sound killer too. I know mine do .

    cheers,
    Gav.

    Thanks again Fellas,

    @Woks
    Yeah, you guys are probably right about too much gloss. One day I'll see the light and stop at 10.

    @Tony
    Thanks mate, to think that before I started building these guitars I never really liked Teles. Now they are my favourites.

    @Stan
    Thanks mate, hopefully there is a few more to come in the series. I hope you are not offended by my snipes at you lefties. After trying to source parts for my last 2 builds I'm beginning to feel your pain.

    @Gav
    Thanks Buddy, but those pics are VERY flattering. I will be delivering it to Bret on Saturday so I will finally get to hear it. I'm a bit apprehensive because I don't really know how good it feels in the hands of a lefty and I haven't really heard it yet and he is a much better guitarist than me, but hopefully it will pass muster.

    I've never actually listened closely to a Tele, so don't really know what to expect. I know the Toneriders in my Strat sound every bit as good as Brets $2,500 Fender so I assume that their Tele pickups are just as good.

    Cheers guys

    nice one Robin, maybe if you can please record a video of Bret playing his new beast so we can hear how it sounds ? Even a phone video would be enough

    Stunning work Robin, were you tempted to swap the switch plate around so that from front to back it was volume / tone / switch.

    You can get some very nice pedal steel sounds out of a Tele when you can wrap your little finger around the vol knob, and after all the original bridge pickup was a steel pickup that was angled to get the poles under the strings
