Reviving this with a question.

I never put string trees on this axe however I'm starting to feel that i need them now. I keep flicking the low E off the edge of the neck and it is frustrating the hell out of me.

The easy answer is string trees BUT - because this is a reverse stock the low E/A/D strings are on top. I'm worried that the bolt that holds the string trees won't be strong enough to hold the tension of these low strings.

Any advice?

When you thread the string through the tuner hole do you wind the string up from the hole or down? Sometimes winding down from the hole is enough to add extra pressure and hold the string in the nut, worked for me anywho.

Nicko I've never had a reverse headstock axe (I have a STA-1R kit to build though), I suggest the E-A-D strings you wind the string as low as possible on the peg so all the windings above keep the string low as possible. I agree the tiny screw in the string trees would barely hold the extra tension of the heavier gauge strings

I say do it. If you put it fairly centrally, it will be fine.
Another option would be a bar retainer.
