i did find that the neck didnt quite sit into the neck pocket properly and therefore left a small gap. im going to be plying around with the neck alot anyway because of the floyd rose going in, so this isnt a huge problem.

apart from that i found a screw decided to bgin splitting the wood near the puckup cavity, even after i had predrilled. nothing a bit of wood putty wont fix up

I wouldn't use putty to fill that hole, use toothpicks and glue. The putty will crumble when you try and put the screw back in.

looking at the bridge pup location and where the bridge sits is pretty close so its going to be pretty tight to get the floyd rose and pivot posts in but should be able to do it. While you wait for the FR to roll up in the post you can do some work on the neck, shape the headstock and you can start painting it
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

Cheers for the tip pabs! Really glad you told me that!

Woks I'm actually in town looking for something to shape the headstock with. Thinking of just getting a cheap jigsaw. I want to paint the neck and body at the same time that way any slight discolouration caused by moisture in the air, etc. will be the same and it should look almost identical

    Update:

The floyd rose finally came in the mail today along with some much anticipated short stack CDs and DVDs (super excited).
Good news is.. It looks like it's gunna fit. Bad news is.. It's gunna be tighter than a virgin with her legs seen shut. The neck at the end is 68mm and the bridge from outside string to outside string is 63mm. I have 2mm of room on either side. Do I get a new neck? Or do you guys think this will be okay? I'll post some pictures before either Tuesday or Wednesday. cheers lads.

Further update, I checked the measurements against the original bridge of the guitar and they are the same width. The floyd rose should fit perfectly fine one very happy Kurt at the moment! Now I need to look at getting it routed out, anyone near Brisbane way and can possibly help me?
