another important tip Barge is to spread the glue evenly and don't use too much glue. Think that was my problem I'm too heavy handed and thats what caused the lumps. Might be worth getting an old paint brush to even out the glue application before the veneer goes on.
Also as a fair portion of the centre of the ST body will be the cavity I think pressure in the centre won't be as critical.
Must be close to page 5 bro !
Tip make your signature longer and you will get to page 10 in no time haha

Ahh yes, great points there Wokks, fortunately I'm a bit of an expert in glue spreading technique after 14 years of setting emery papers on my shearing discs. Believe it or not an empty beer can (dent free) is an amazing tool for applying a thin, super even coat of glue, but the latex shearers glue is (I suspect) a bit runnier than Titebond. A nice flat hunk of plastic should suffice.

I'm always a bit hesitant about sharing links to a product I haven't used or tested, but I'll do it anyway, and if you decide to take a punt (as I have) don't blame me.
I thought for the size and price, this deal was just far too good to knock back. If my calculations are correct you should comfortably do 4 (regular shape electric) bodies with this stuff.

EDIT: I've just notice he's changed the listing since I purchased from "free postage" to $10.00 Standard delivery, cheeky bugger. (still a good deal imho)

Hahaha yeah page 5 already Wokks, must be just about ready to put on the clear coats:-)
Tell you what, it was a bloody cold night in the tent again last night and I see the postie hadn't stopped by while I slept:-(

hopefully the posty arrives today Barge ! Nice advice using a beer can or flat plastic to spread the glue, might try that next time.
That flame maple deal is cheap if it does 2 axes. Bit worried about 2 x 6" wide pieces is only just over 300mm wide, from memory a ST is more like 330mm at it widest point, although you will be chopping off a bit of width.
I'll wait till your flame maple veneer arrives next week Barge if you can please measure the total width, if its about 330mm I'll be ordering some for sure

Yeah I worked it out to be slightly less than 330 but either way (like you mentioned) as I'm going for a custom shape I can cut it down to fit. The veneers might prove to be a bit of a problem on a regular Strat shape I would imagine.

It's all getting pretty feral Wokks, spam's all run out. I'm gonna have to start hunting small animals soon, maybe go Bear Grylls styles on some bugs.
Tracking just says "In Transit", they usually shoot me an email too and it hasn't come so I guessing today's not the day:-(

bugger Barge, looks like you got another night of camping ahead. You better watch some Bear Grylls vids and get some tips. Hope the wifi is working from your tent. You know DB finally upgraded the wifi in the naughty room so now its like working for Google - its all beer and skittles, well beer, pizza and guitar building - my kind of heaven haha

Beer, pizza and guitars builds, hehe. Doesn't get much better really. Unfortunately my over exuberance to partake in more than my fair share of Pale Ale over the festive season meant the ol' waistline took a bit of a hammering and as such have sworn off beer for the next little while (sob sob)...I hope DB's got some Johhny Walker stashed in the naughty room somewhere.

So...update, it's here!!! It's just not...here if you get my drift.
I'm gonna go jump in the car and drive round town until I find the postie van (not really)
Also a massive shout out to Andyport for his primo vinyl decals which turned up yesterday. I've had a gut full of mucking round trying to find decent waterslides and waiting weeks for delivery from the UK so I'm trying a new method. Unfortunately vinyl decals and nitrocellulose don't play nice together so I'll be using Andy's decal as a stencil. The plan is to shoot the headstock in white first (the logo colour), then plonk the decal down, then lay down my black, peel off the decal to hopefully reveal a nice sharp white logo, then I'll just shoot some nitro clear over top, job done....hopefully.

A good tip when masking a design like that - lay your base colour (white) as you described, attach your masking (decal in your case) then spray another coat of the logo colour (white) before laying down your background colour (black). The coat of logo colour after masking, in my experience, takes care of any bleed under the edges of the masking and seals it up so the other colour doesn't bleed and you get nice crisp edges. Not done this with decals, but don't see why it would be any different.
