After a major mishap today when shaping the headstock managed to rescue it to this . Am gluing some maple veneer to hopefully give it a different look.

Pulled it off the workbench with an extension lead while cutting another headstock and dropped onto the concrete and broke off one corner of what I had cut out. Spent a bit of time doodling to see if I could come up with something but didnt have much of an option.
Suppose the lesson is to be a little more spatially aware and housekeeping.
Tony
Damn Tony, tough break. Maybe a replacement neck from Adam and co?
cheers,
Gav.

If you're going to veneer the headstock it might be possible to glue a piece on the top and reshape before you laminate the maple on. My workbench is generally a disaster area when I'm working on something, I have come close to this exact thing happening before.
'As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.'
Maybe wack an extension piece onto the top of the headstock strengthened with dowel then hide under the veneer.
Hi Tony, we do have some LP set necks here, maple with rosewood f/board. I don't stock any mahogany necks unfortunately.
They're $49.95, but I could send you one @ cost plus postage, which would be $35.00, to help you out, as that was just bad luck.
The problem would be getting it to fit, as the bodies and necks are matched at the factory.
Do you still have the factory Number, which is marked on the neck heel and the body's neck pocket?
I'll see if I have one with a matching number here.
Cheers,
Adam

bummer Tony, I think we've all come close to doing a similar thing, just a warning in future to keep leads away from anything that can fall. Have you got any headstock offcuts that you may be able to glue on and then hide with the veneer ?
otherwise Ad's offer of a cheaper replacement neck might be the only option

Thanks Guys and thanks for the offer Adam much appreciated. ( as normal, great customer service)
sent a photo to my workmate who's son this is for, and his comment was "that looks great" and after further discussion wants to keep it going as is. So will whack on the veneer and keep progressing I suppose. May have to swap the tuners around to make it look symetrical.
Tony
well that worked out ok then Tony, are you going to round off the corners and put a Gibbo shape on the headstock ?
the tuners should fit ok as the screw is below the tuner hole centreline.
You are very lucky a bigger piece didn't break off and then it would have been a throw away neck !
