These ash bodies sure do look the duck's nuts. Good stuff Wokka.

cheers Pablo, once you get all the glue and filler out they are great bodies for sure. Would be awesome if Pit Bull could do ash body blanks !

@ Lawry --> its the ash bodies that make the grain really pop, you built a RC-1 didn't you, which is basswood has a much more subtle grain that doesn't pop any where near as much. What model kit is your second build ? I'm just using the Pit Bull sandpaper 180, 220 and 240 grit before wudtoning and giving it a light steel wool 0000 fine between coats.

Both my builds are basswood. With this in mind I think I'll try an ash kit next (there is always a 'next'). The results you guys get are amazing. Thanks.

yes Lawry these ash kits are fantastic, the photos don't do the grain justice. You have seen results from all the IB-5 basses that have been built by the forum members, and now the ST, TL and EX kits will start popping up on the build diaries soon.

Got third coat applied. Looks like it's going to be the watermelon strat. Check out how Blue The headstock is compared to the Ash body

wow wokks, that's the best grain ever! The grain matches better over the three pieces than any other guitar I've seen from this site!

    Coming along nicely Woks.

Go on, throw a red scratch plate on it. You know you want to. Then it will be the ultimate watermelon guitar.

Haha Dan, I have got a red tortoise shell scratch plate I might see how it looks. Next update I'll post a photo to get forum votes. I've been calling it the Watermelon axe so it is highly likely
