Thanks for the replies, the pocket is a solid fit and the angle looks OK but will do a dry fit before committing to glue.

I've been a Fender guy since 1964 and really had nothing to do with set necks other than a very brief SG flirtation around 1970 that put me off Gibson's completely

Sadly absolutely no progress to report, family stuff has been getting in the way and the humidity doesn't promote thoughts of applying a finish of any sort

I resemble that remark. Wish I could blame it on humidity, but it's mostly about work.

I tell myself that it's not a race...but, then, I don't have race cars in my avatar ;-) Nice to have you checking in, whatever the state of teh build ;-)

Hopefully be able to get a bit done over Easter.

The next part of the project is to finish sanding the headstock where it's been plugged and the shape and drill for the Gotoh tuners.

Once the sanding is done it's pretty straight forward and should move ahead again and it really needs to because I have a song on the go for the next album that really needs "unmentionable" humbucker tones

Thinking very seriously about using this headstock design without the string trees which aren't required with the unmentionable

I have had one sitting in the rack since 1976

I have never actually seen a Shergold, but I see that there is a UK company that has purchased the brand. Guitars and basses don't look like they have much to do with the originals--including the headstocks that look nothing like yours. So I guess it's yours for the claiming ;-)

What would be really cool is if you nameless one had Shergold pickups. I don't know where you'd get them since Nuevo Shergold seems to be using mostly 61B50N and Gretch/Cabronita style pickups. How do the Shargold compare?

I know where I can possibly get the Reann pickups but obviously don't need another guitar that sounds like a Shergold.

The pickups are rather low output so don't growl and scream like the more modern humbuckers, they are split coils so can be switched as SC, HB or the two coils out of phase and with that combination available to each pickup and then the 3 way switch thrown in the guitar has a massive tonal range.

The Shergold has all guitar parts on this track

The tele I am holding in the photo is a kit from another supplier tuned as a B - B baritone
