The reviews I have seen of the Music Nomad files have been very positive. I liked this guy's reviews, but his tastes may be a bit idiosyncratic. The two things he doesn't like about the MN file are not necessarily bad things. The line that the MN file leaves is 1/32....0.08mm. He may find that fat, but it seems pretty good to me. He also likes a finer grit...but the up-side is that the MN file is likely to be faster. Not sure that will matter once the frets are polished. Frankly the fret is not going to look polished and unscratched for very long anyway if you're using round-wound strings.

You may also have dodged a bullet. Right now the FG diamond file is off the market and getting an update. It may be that that there was something that wasn't working with the FG file...who knows?

That said, when they re-issue the FG diamond file, it might complement your MN file since it has finer grit and would allow you to do a no-line fret.

For my part, I was pretty shocked (and delighted) at how fast the toothed FG file worked on my Tele neck. I think I'd prefer speed to fine grit, and I was pretty happy to get lines only 1/32“ ;-)

FWIW, I taped off the fretboard, but more out of abundance of caution than need. Then FG file is really smooth. No sharp edges anywhere you don't want them. Feels as well made as any tool I own.
