Simple Op Amp Based Booster Pedal

I don't know if this is really relevant, but you made me think of it. When an EE friend looked at the G&L pre, he noticed that it was only using half the IC. If you're not getting enough gain out of yours would it make sense to use "both sides" of the op amp and run it at 18V? Please be gentile with your response, I realize that I don't really understand what I am talking about here ;-)

No worries, the TLO71 IC I used to build the booster pedal is actually a single Op Amp IC, that is, it contains a single integrated Op Amp circuit on the chip, other Op Amp ICs like the JRC4558D, TLO72CP, NE5532, LF353, etc, contain two Op Amp IC circuits on the chip, I'm also running the pedal off a single 9V battery.
