    Intro and Welcome

G'day there teachers, it's about time you had your own section of the forum dedicated to questions and answers specifically about building guitars in the classroom or school setting.

I love this idea of kids getting to build an instrument in their tech & design or manual arts class, and not just learning new skills, but leaving with an instrument that they can play and be proud of for the rest of their lives.

I hope you will share with your fellow teachers things that were good, things that were easy or things that were too difficult, but most importantly for me, if there's anything more I can do to help out with this idea.

    Nice Idea!

I run a Guitar Building Club at the school where I work. I typically have 6 students (Year 10 students), we meet 1 lunchtime (about 25 mins) a week for most of the year. We normally build the ST-1, TL-1 style kits depending on availability. I have a set of the essential guitar tools, 3 work benches, a clothes rack for drying, 2 x drills and an electric sander. Most of our work is done in my Science classroom (I do not have any manual arts space!), staining and varnishing is done in the foyer. Sometimes I also have a staff club.
