    Another Lefty Tele

Been a while since the last kit. I picked up a Tele in the January specials and now I have a bit of time to work on it.
So, it's a fairly standard type of tele kit. Basswood body, timber looks good without too many variations in colour. A very nice maple neck and board.
So far the only progress is to check fit and cut a headstock.

    Not much progress.
Picked up a nice lefty Gotoh bridge. Modern style so intonation becomes a lot easier.
Also bought some Artist tele pickups - alnico V. Hopefully a nice tone to them. They seem to have very good reviews.
In setting up the bridge I have noticed that the cavity for the bridge pickup is too small. Tried the kit pickup in it and it won't go in. Neither will the Artist pickup. Odd that given the neck pickup is huge relative to the pickup size.
The dremel will have some work to do.

A nice warm afternoon and the chance to attack the bridge rout.
Measured up to take 3mm from around the rout.

Then around the cavity with the dremel and now there is enough space for some copper tape to line the cavity and the pickup to sit comfortably in the space.

    Progress has been slow.

    Finally put it together.
Copper tape in the cavities, upgraded electrics, Artist pickup set. And managed to get the Dan Lawrence wiring all in place. TUSQ nut installed.
Sounds exceptionally good. The pickups are very good.
The two extra options on the selector switch are interesting. I like the partial out of phase sound on one of the additional positions but the removal of the low tones with the added capacitor makes it a bit too ice picky for my liking.
It plays nicely and I will give it a bit more of a go with the various selector positions. Doubt I will change any of the electrics any further.
    Will declare it finished!
