Added a stamped "serial no" to the back of the headstock, filled with Ebony Timbermate, let it dry, and then sanded back with 240 g paper.

Also levelled the frets (upgraded to an aluminium fret block), filed, checked with a fret rocker. Relevelled, refiled, rechecked everything two more times. Then polished with a fine scotchbright pad and 0000 steelwool.

This time I also tried a new fret end file to tidy and remove the fret end burrs - after watching the Stewmac and other videos.

Trevor The serial number system with the timbermate is cool. What size stamp do you use?

    Thanks vh2580.

They are 4mm letters and numbers. Just a cheap set off ebay. I have only used them on wood for my guitar headstocks.

The lettering also looks good without using any timbermate fill, on stained or painted necks. I've been using them since 2021.

Today, I gave the tele body a slight belly cut and arm contour using a shinto rasp, belt sander and then palm sander. Hopefully enough material has been removed to make them useful!

    Thanks JohnH.

    Today I have:
sanded the body back with 400g paper,
given it a light coat of Ubeaut sanding sealer, gently rubbed it back with 1200 g paper
stained it orange with 2 coats of Ubeaut orange dye,
and sprayed on 9 coats of Cabot's water-based polyurethane.

    Thanks JohnH.

It has been very hot and humid in Perth over the last 2 months. Hopefully, it will be better spraying weather soon so I can make some more progress.

Welcome to my world ;-) It is never reliably not hot and humid here. I have pretty much decided that I just can't really use spray equipment. It's always hovering around the high end for humidity, and we can have temps in the high 20s or 30s (C) any time of year. My best accommodation so far has been to use finishes that can handle high temps and wet air. Limits the choices ;-)
