    Project #5, AG #2

Well, the leaves are turning here in Utah USA, so it is time to start Winter Project #5. When I signed out last spring, I was thinking of a Tele style, but that line seems to have been discontinued. I messed up just a little on the first AG, so the action is a little higher than I would like. So I will try a second. Kit arrived yesterday, and the body and neck look good. When it has had a few days to get used to this desert climate, I'll try a mock build. Pictures as often as I can get my daughter to take 'em. I'm happy to be back on the Forum.

Thanks, Trevor. Recently read someone's thread expressing gratitude for the help and kindness of strangers while completing their build. From my experience, there are no strangers on this forum, despite the fact that we live thousands of miles apart and will never meet face to face. That's the strength of the PBG forum.

So true. But if I'm ever in Western Utah, I will come over for a coffee

Ha Ha. We can put some shrimp on the barbie! Actually, we call them prawns, and I'm not actually that fussed on them!

In Miami we tend to refer to them as camarones, and I can eat my weight in them. You'd also all be welcome to come by for cafecito.

In my country when we grill shrimp (prawns) it is usually along with a good piece of steak. So expect that.

Fender3, me gusto mucho! We should all plan a big party.

Although my kit only arrived less than a week ago, I decided to do the mock build before Adam splits and things dry up at PBG. Good thing I did. I am missing some parts, including saddles and bridge. Looks like the neck heel is about 1/16 inch (maybe 1 1/2 mm) too wide for the pocket, so I have some work to do. I'll be back when I get it to fit.

OK, after a delay and some distractions, I am back. Before he left, Adam sent me the parts that were missing, plus a boatload of extra stuff, so everything is now in place. Mock build looks pretty good. The strings lie parallel on the neck and there is only a little play in the neck pocket. Should have been working on the neck and headstock while I waited, but did not get started. I hope to have some progress to show soon. I tried to upload a couple of photos of the mock build, but I guess the format was wrong.
