Scratch build - Danelectro Pro inspired

Today I put the finishing touches on my latest project, inspired by the Flintstone guitar - the Danelectro Pro.

I had a piece of 30mm ply left over from other bodies I had made. I printed a template of the Danelectro Pro and found that the body was about 10mm too wide, so I reshaped the body to fit the ply that I had. It was mainly the lower bout where the switches are.

There were a few mistakes made and I may even build another body of the correct shape, but even so, I'm quite happy with the way it turned out.

Hardware was sourced from eBay so it's nothing special. Wilkinson E-Z Lok tuners. Pickguard and back cover are made from 3mm opaque acrylic. The neck was a surprise - smooth fret ends and only a couple that were slightly high. The action is low, the intonation is spot-on and it's a fun little thing to play.

    Cheers

Very cool. Nice work. I had to research it, and I think it looks authentic.

Very cool! I am very slowly completing a bass with Dano pickups. Glad to see I am not alone. Did you use the very funky Dano tone circuit? It took me an embarrassingly long time to understand it. Wondering if you used it and if you made any mods?

At the moment it has just standard Volume and Tone, but I'll keep the Dano wiring in mind for a mod. The pickups are smaller than the proper Dano pickups but they have a very jangly tone, especially on the bridge.

I did the 2V+2T wiring. I think Weirdbits had to explain it to me at least three times. Sounds like you got the Strat sized pickups. It looks very cool. Glad you're liking the sound ;-)
