    MMB-4 Wiring

    Hi folks.
This is my first build so many thanks in advance for this forum.
Everything has gone well over the last few weeks, so now I'm onto the wiring, but I'm having trouble understanding the diagram on the website.
I've done lots of automotive electrical work, so I thought, how hard can 4 wires be..........
I've attached the wiring diagram and pictures of my kit and would love it if someone were able to help me out with what goes where.
Especially the black wire coming off the tone pot shows it going nowhere. Surely, that's not right?
Thanks again to anyone you can show me the error of my ways.

    Hi Tony T,

The black wire from the controls would be the ground for the bridge. Not sure why it is not labelled in the wiring diagram. There should be a hole from the control cavity to the bridge position (or from the pup route). The stands of the wire should be splayed out and will just sit under the bridge. The pressure from screwing the bridge into place should create a good electrical contact.

For the humbucker wires - the black is the hot wire, the green and bare wires are the ground wires, and the red/white are the wires that join the 2 coils of the humbucker in series.

The black wire should be connected to the first volume pot. The green and bare wires are soldered to the back of the pot to ground them. I have only seen the red/white wires being taped up and left alone.

Note that I have not done this kit. But it looks like the two coils work separately with the two volume controls. I'm not sure if they need to be separated.

    Hopefully others can assist here!

PS: Check out this wiring diagram at https://www.seymourduncan.com/images...sive_2V_1T.jpg.
It shows the same coloured wires - and the complete diagram.

Regarding the Seymour Duncan diagram, it shows the white coil finish wire going to ground.

The kit pickup comes with the two coil finish wires (red & white) soldered together. There is no need to separate these. Solder the red & white wires to the middle lug of the "2nd Coil Volume Pot" as per the PBG diagram (not very clear I know, but that's what is meant to be shown). This is the same as soldering them together on a push-pull pot for coil splitting.
