For the past 46 years, there have been three electric guitars of which I have been particularly covetous...these are as follows:-
1. Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in Wine Red... à la Pete Townshend.
2. Gibson Les Paul Junior with Double Cutaway in TV Yellow... à la Johnny Thunders.
3. Mosrite the Ventures II in white...à la Johnny Ramone.
If truth be known, I never honestly believed that I would ever have the chance to be custodian of any of the aforementioned "holy grails" and although a certain amount of serendipity has allowed for the first two from this list to fall into my hands, I am resigned to the fact that the third will forever elude me.
With this in mind, I have periodically wrestled with the option of purchasing one of the many (alleged) "official" or "not so official" Mosrite copies; yet it was only last week when I stumbled upon the Pitbull website, offering a reasonable attempt at a DIY version of a slab bodied Mosrite. Needless to say, I pulled the trigger and quite literally, a few days later I was opening a parcel from the land down under and I am really looking forward to starting this new adventure.
