    JK-1 Head-stock grain question

    Hi All

I'm getting ready to do my first PBG build (JK-1) and have some questions about the head-stock I received.

I'm not sure if it's just the grain colouring or the beginnings of a crack. I'm not worried about the cosmetics but I am concerned it's in a high load/tension area. It extends from front to back.

Does anybody have any feedback or experience they can share?

    Thanks

    Hi CaptainPants.

Hopefully it is just the grain. It does not appear to go past the tuner hole. I do not think it should be a problem. I think the tuners will give it some support when they are put on. I would ensure that the tuner post screw is not a really tight fit (they aren't normally) - which could possibly force the hole apart.

What does it look like on the other side of the headstock?

I've since given the surface a bit light sanding and prodding and I'm fairly certain it's just the grain colour.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Regards

Hopefully it will not be a problem.

Last year (?) a forum member had their headstock crack when they added the screws for the tuners. I think their pilot hole was a bit too small for the screws. The split could be glued back with no problems.

Take care if your tuner screws are close to the suspect line.
