done a bit on it its a terrible piece of wood has 3 splits on the side so I'm going to have to do a burst on it, I used a wood binder just 1 coat to even out the wood before I dyed it, its a new dye its still Rit but a new one its for dying nylon which is a bit better but $22 a bottle seems ok the colour is racing red not 100% sure if I put a couple of coats of binder before I clear it might get it cleared over the week end, I will try some other colours on other kits see which work the best

Four-piece body with no attempt to match the woods. Best suited for a solid colour finish IMO. A shame about the splits, but a burst will work.

you may be right Simon I've been thinking that myself I have some candy apple concentrate if I cant get it to a good standard the worse body I've had, Adam should sell better quality kits considering the price point but either way, i will fix it

As the price point is pretty much as low as you can get for most of the kits without buying direct from a Chinese outlet, I think you are probably getting what you pay for. The real problem is the QA/QC at the factory. Without having your own QA team installed at the factory, rejecting kits at source so only good ones are sent out (and so hopefully improving the quality of the kits made as a result), the process of rejecting a kit with defects becomes far harder.

You’d need a much greater volume and profit than PBG to support having such a QA team for even one factory, and PBG get their kits from several factories.

It’s frustrating cost-wise that you can get a finished guitar for around the cost of a kit (sometimes less) and the basic finished product quality is often better than the kit quality.

I actually got about 10 kits off ebay Atm they have increased the price as well from $200 to $380 I was looking at what they have in stock but nothing I really want to do, I'm doing 3 atm SG, prs, and the tele, I ended up sanding it all off the tele and managed to save maple veneer, have done it in a yellow dye front and red Mahogany on the back and doing a burst with the Mahogany fading on the yellow looks way better, the SG im going to do it black and the prs in candy apple red over a gold base
