This time I did a lot of the rounding/shaping before they went in.
Ahh, I get what you meant now.

I do it similar to your old method in that I pre-cut each fret in order; place them in a wooden block with holes numbered 1-24. Then I install, trim etc. I do cut them with only a couple of mil overhang on each end though.

I like having them all in before shaping because I use a block with a file set at 35° to get the bevel all the same, then tidy up each with a fret end file.

Just goes to show there are multiple ways of proverbial cat-skinning.
