I finished making the first baseplate this morning. I charged the magnets and assembled the first one.

Impressive work, I’d like to give doing this a shot at some point.
Thanks mate, I actually soldered the finished one to an output jack and held the pickup up to the strings of one of my guitars just to hear it make sound and it sounded pretty good.
Do you mean winding your own pickups or the Rick style build?

Check out the Pickup Winding thread where I posted a YouTube link to a DIY winder. Super simple to build and not very expensive.
Yeh Ricks are certainly polarising. I've just started drawing another guitar in Illustrator for a future build. What do you think about one of these for the collection https://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/...jet/2411916821
To be honest I also wouldn't mind have one of your Deluxesters in my collection because I really dig the shape, particularly the headstock.
In regards to the Sea Foam Green, maybe we need a Sea Foam Green appreciation thread specially for Frankie haha.

Hah, he'd love that.
Second iteration of the Deluxester is probably going to have to wait until after this pandemic, but I should have solved a few of the design issues with it by then and hopefully be able to churn out bodies and necks fairly easily. I'll look at distributing within this community once I'm there as a couple of people have expressed interest in them.
I've been watching the pickup winding with interest. I'm a way off embarking on that though.

I am impressed the degree to which you have taken the idea of "scratch" build. This is the scratchiest I have followed.
