Ok so I've just discovered something that will be irritating down the line...
I'm measuring out the scale length for bridge design and found that the fretboard side inlays are not placed correctly for a fretless 34" scale.
They've put the inlays where you would for a standard fretted board so the 12th fret inlay is at least 15mm flat from where the harmonic spot is.
Bugger, drill out, plug existing and redo is your only real option.

On the bright side, since i plan on making my own bridge it means I can think about using an angled bridge to get a 35" B scale.
This issue has occurred in the past. The factory isn’t that flexible in someways. They can cope with not installing frets, but moving the side dots wouldn’t occur to them. But in the end they are kits and we have to customise them all in some way.

I only thought about the inlays AFTER I placed the order for a custom kit. I should have told them no inlays... live and learn, just means I'll have to learn a stone new skills to correct it
I have some left over pieces of sheoak timber from when I made my dining table last year and that stuff just looks amazing when finish it so I figured it would make a great veneer for my bass head.
I made a jig and cut a few pieces on my compound saw about 150x20x3mm and glued them to the head. Used a dremel to cut the excess and then an orbital sander for closer shaping.
I lightly wiped the head with metho for the photos so you can see just how amazing that grain pops out. I'm thinking I might coat the head with resin once I'm ready for the finishing process.

It's a beautiful wood to work with, but probably too heavy to build a body from.
I've done a couple of tests with resin coating scrap pieces and it comes out with a tiger's eye kind of appearance.
My grand plan is to make a wooden bridge, similar to the stradi bass concept.
