I have some left over pieces of sheoak timber from when I made my dining table last year and that stuff just looks amazing when finish it so I figured it would make a great veneer for my bass head.

I made a jig and cut a few pieces on my compound saw about 150x20x3mm and glued them to the head. Used a dremel to cut the excess and then an orbital sander for closer shaping.

I lightly wiped the head with metho for the photos so you can see just how amazing that grain pops out. I'm thinking I might coat the head with resin once I'm ready for the finishing process.
