I did have some trouble with the output jack being a bit lose and intermittent yesterday but I managed to fix the intermittent-ness so that the output didn't keep dropping out, I couldn't really do much about the socket being a bit lose so I decided to order an Electrosocket jack mount from Stewmac as well as some Pure-Tone multi-contact output jacks and some black plastic Barrel Knob pickup-selector switch tips, they should arrive in the post next Tuesday.
Okay, so what is an Electrosocket jack mount?, it's a piece of metal that fits in the hole in the body of a Telecaster where the output jack fits, traditionally, the output jack of a Telecaster is held in place with a thin piece of metal with a hole in the middle of it, a chrome metal cup is used to cover the output jack hole, this works pretty well when first installed but over time the thin piece of metal works lose, the Electrosocket is a replacement jack mounting system that holds the output jack firmly in place, here's what they look like:
