Ah yes.. this is very much from the hack and slash school of luthery.

The filler or 'bog' I'm using is automotive. So you'd need to go to Supercheap or Autobarn. There are a number of different types, but I'm using the lightweight plastic one. It's the most common, but there is also metal and fiberglass ones.. probably overkill for guitars

Its an epoxy, so you need to mix it up in batches as you use it. It takes a bit of practice to work out the ratio's, but generally if you only put a little bit of hardener in, you get longer work times. Also if the weather is hot, it will go off much more quickly. It's about $10 for 450gm of the cheap stuff (what I have) so you get a fair bit of filler for your money.

    Thanks S.M.
So if it's epoxy I may even find some laying around the place.
    I'm a well-seasoned bodger.

    cheers, Mark.

First coat of high fill. Has exposed numerous areas requiring work, but at least I'm onto finishing.

What are peoples thoughts on proportions? It looks to bit a fair bit smaller than a regular flying V, but not as small as some of the other commercial variants. It's always so hard to tell on the computer how it will look IRL, I think I like it regardless, but interested to hear if anyone thinks it looks particularly weird.

Up to primer, getting close to top coats. Less rain and more time would be helpful.

The rear V wings look to have a bit more meat on them and therefore chunkier near stop tail piece section. I like the small cutaway on treble side.

Yeah, its a bit stubbier isn't it? Cutaway was to make it clearly distinct from an actual V.

First coats of colour on. Probably needs another one, little bit thin in a couple of spot, but I'll see how it looks dry. Colour is Torquay Sand, very similar valiant Bondi Bleach/ beige colour. Will look good with black hardware I think.

It's not perfect. I could have spent longer sanding, but eh, it is what it is.

I like the colour choice. I think the shape is really cool. The little cutaway reminds me of the Gibson Moderne. 👍🏻

Final colours on, just waiting for some vinyl to be cut to get the design back on it, quick mock up. If nothing else it should look good hanging on the wall.

I'll be very interested to see how all the bog etc holds up.
