    Today we determine where I fall on the bold-stupid axis for this project. I got out the router and went to town on the beautiful custom veneer to do the pickguard recess. It was a scary process but I managed to not totally destroy the guitar so I'll call that a win. Here is a photo of the routing in progress. I'll just need to get into the corners with a chisel to finish it off.

    nice job, btw, routing through veneers etc. is never not nerve wracking.
