This is my 5th set-neck and again must have been lucky as no height problems so far (though this is my first resonator so don't speak too soon GF!!). Can anyone tell me whether the ebony bridge blank has to have six grooves 'filed' in and if so does this mean six round files??

In CS’s build thread this gets discussed, his wife’s Gresch Honey Dipper has notches to receive the strings, my Dobro Hound Dog Deluxe has them also, I think mainly to maintain an even string spacing.
if you’ve a set of nut files it should be no probs, and as you are in Freo, I’m pretty sure Adam can sort you for those fairly quick.

Thanks FW and for the link. Haven't had to do much in the way of nuts and saddles - this reso is a lot more basic (I need a challenge!).

Are you going to shape the bridge top to match the fretboard radius?

Will take a look and see how big it is; probably take a squidge off each end you think?

I pi*sed about way too long before I purchased a set of nut files. Mine came from the States and cost about AU $100, they're soooo nice to use. They changed that kind of work from bush mechanic to craftsman!

I think it’s a 12” radius? I’ll check on mine, one would assume they would be the same-ish.
Youd just need to take care to not go too hard at it and drop your action too far for the low E.

It would appear to be 16”

Possibly a bit of attention with some 80 grit to get the basic shape and then fine tune with finer paper to final shape?
You can always draw the radius curve out and template from that.
