According to Adam, the necks "are slightly over width... by 1mm or so.* They will need a bit of finessing to make a good fit." So I take from that the neck itself might need to be sanded rather than the pocket.

Personally I would never sand the neck heel.
Totally agree with Dedman's instructions.

I can't really comment either way and it seems it's pretty split on forums on the net which way to go too.
If the neck is wider it will affect the distance to the strings, though only by a fraction of a millimetre. I'm curious if the edge of the neck is completely flat or has a slight widening at the heel.

Too easy to stuff up the square edge on a neck which may then end up at an odd angle in the neck pocket.
Easier to adjust or compensate within the neck pocket, even if it is a bit more fiddly, complicated, and likely to take more time.

Ah, I tried pushing it in horizontally as it seemed to slide in easier and that seems to be what i saw on a few videos.
So to clarify I should be lining it up on top of the body and pushing down from the top, as ppposed to sliding it in from the base of the neck heel into the socket?
So everyone it seems the general idea is to sand the sides back a bit until it seems snug but not impossible?
Yeah I might leave it for a few days just to plan/get the equipment/ give the kit some time to settle.
Not sure how far your kit has travelled but mine went from barely entering the pocket to snug fit after a week or so of acclimatising.

I had a go at trying to fit the neck into the body.
Was incredibly snug and actually caused a bit of wear and tear.
I'm not too fussed with it as long as it wont affect tone or playability.
Took some photos to show.
I was also wondering, in regards to sanding the sides down to fit the neck, how do I tackle the binding (see picture)? Is it best to cut it with a box cutter, or will sanding it back as well be fine?
