So how's many teles do you have 😊
You could go with a Dingotone finish, takes ages but looks lovely as long as you are very patient. I'm guessing you have another guitar lying around to lay while the finish cures......
I'd use a feast Watson spirit based stain and some poly topcoat either rattle can or wipe on, probably satin finish as this hides any little mistakes really well and the lack of shine allows the grain to show through.

Yes, but don't mention that big green shed on here. Kinda like mentioning Macbeth in the theatre...
The Feast Watson stuff I like, it goes nicely on Ash but I have had some strife getting it even on mahogany.
The Cabots clear satin rattle can goes on nicely and one can would do your whole guitar, neck as well.
You would probably want to use the sanding sealer which you paint on first and sand back to fill the grain imperfections.
All of my translucent finishes have been done with this stuff, I like it, but there's loads of other options too like acrylic, nitrocellulose, true oil, wipe on poly..........and more I'm sure!

I see that Sydneyguitarsetups makes nitro in spray cans and in all the proper colours too. I was thinking I would use that if the build is a nice player. $40 a can is pretty pricey.

You will also need the clear too, so it's $80 total I believe if you want a translucent finish
