    Yeah it looks a bit wide I agree. I was going suggest doing like this:



    But I don't know how achievable that would be by just staining the quilt. You would reed to route a shallow cavity and do inlays I think. Anyway, something to think about.

    I like that look. Almost old school surfboard like. You could just do it in transparent nitro colours.
