Looking good but I'd do the cavity matt black to highlight the top and scratchplate rather than distract from it.

Starting to get a good base up with the Danish oil. Having a few problems with lint/dust settling after most coats. Any suggestions?

    Logo decal on!

I attempted an oil sand on the front of the Tele, wiped away the excess and gave it a 50/50 oil coat but when I checked it a few hours later I noticed that there were lots of tiny scratches from the sanding. I used 2000 grit but it seems to have ruined the nice gloss that was building up.

Think I might have to do a heavier sand back and get back to full coats.

Just waiting for pics to upload to IMGUR but the scratches can't really be seen in the photos.

    Hey Djefster.

    nice decal.

I haven't used danish oil but Ive used plenty of tru oil. I wouldn't worry about the scratches, you can always lay down more coats. you need to wet sand which will take the initial gloss off, then buff up the grades with a set of micromesh pads, once you get past 3000 it will gloss up again.

Thanks Andy. I've ordered a set of micromesh pads. I've stopped work on that one for a while (annoyed!!) but have started work on a flawed strat body I got from a company in USA. Lots of sanding and have just learnt how to remove dents... YAY. I'll post some pics soon. Others might get some ideas if they've not tried it before.

I've started using Danish Oil on some furniture projects for the Bride. (I wonder if its made from real Danes??) It is terribly stinky and there are some frightening warnings on the Feast Watson Packaging regards health and safety, so it is a case of much cross ventilation and respirator for the application work.
I've sanded through to 600 and the project is a mixture of pine ply, Tasmanian Oak and MDF, all surfaces seem to take it well but i've not multicoated yet i've only done a first coat. Seems nice but whiffy.

After standing back from this one for a few days, I gathered the strength to attack again. I gave it a wet sand with water plus a dash of liquid soap, then a full Danish oil coat.... the best yet. looks great> Maybe I just needed that extra curing time now that I have about 6 coats on it.

Can't wait to try it with mesh pads.
