Just use 2k clear in thin coats it will fix a Matt finish put it on thin at around 24 degres do not try to get a shine on the first coat just aim to cover the base coat thinly. Give it 20 mins At least before applying second coat. Let it merge with the last coat. You can then leave it for a while it will continue to level into the last coat for a while. If it still looks rough leave it over night to dry remember thin coats 1 tin is just enough. 2 tins is to much. Then go again with another final coat.

If it’s an enamel, you’d want to steer towards another enamel clear, from what I’ve read an acrylic clear might screw your colour coat up. If you can, get a can of each, take some scrap wood and prep two pieces to the same standard as your body, paint them with way at ever you have left over, then test each to see if you get a reaction.

Yep never mix enamel and acrylic.

Today was a day met with many failures and some mild success.

The bushings that a bought from a recommendation here, ended up being to small for the kluson tuners. While they fit in the pre-drilled holes snugly, the tuning pegs were too large for the bushings.

I ended up going with the provided bushing and some electrical tape.. Tuners installed pretty nice now.

Failure number 2 was the Wilkinson bridge. Mocked it up against the through body holes that were pre-drilled, and nothing lined up.

Ended up taking the brass sales off, and will use the kit bridge. One day I will fill the holes and redrill, so I can install the Wilkinson.

Combo failure number 3 and 4 is the Emerson wired kit I purchased.. The pots are too large for the holes in the kit control plate. Either I purchase a new plate or attempt to drill out the holes.

And secondly the cavity is too small for the Emerson pots. I'm going to have to clear some room in the cavity.

Any Ideas on how to make cavities larger? Considering the only power tool I have is a cordless drill.. No dremel. Would a chisel work?

A Good Sharp chisel will work you can get curved woodworking chisels used on lathes from a good Hardware store.

Most upgrade pots have a larger thread diameter that requires existing control plate holes to be enlarged. Best done with drill in reverse so that the drill bit does not bite or grab the control plate and make a mess of things.
As the metal is quite hard it will heat up and this method does take a bit longer but safer in the end.

If you can find my TLA-1R build diary, I documented how to do the wilkinson bridge. Its well worth it and much better than the kit bridge.

I used Gotoh pots as well and had to widen the control cavity because those pots are HUGE!. I used 60 grit sand paper and a lot of patience. Nowadays I'd just use my plunge router.

I think the Wilkinson Bridge will be a revision down the track.. I'll stick with the PBG bridge now, with the brass compensated saddles from the Wilkinson. Im thinking this guitar will be something I improve over time.

With tools, paint, hardware, pickups etc, I could have purchased a Classic Vibe by now.. I dont have the cash to dump on $60 chisels.

I may try and go down the route of sandpaper (and other tools I have on hand) to try and widen this cavirty for the larger pots.

Doh!! Sorry that they didn't work out. Handing out advice sight unseen is fraught with peril.
I'll have to resist the temptation in future.
