so you can add some colortone on the Indian ink. that sounds good, but you have to try different mixture if you want to keep the cherry red color I presume. and I'm a colorblind, so I shouldn't try to do mixtures, it won't be good in the end.
Yesterday, I bought some glitter to mix with paint. I tried to mix it with the Rit dye, and did a trial on a piece of wood. I didn't like the result. I don't know, maybe I didn't shake enough or maybe I just need to use some paint with this.

that's why I lightly sand the body and want to try to add a varnish. it will maybe get the glitter and dye stuck in it . And if this is a fail, I'll surely have to start it all back from the beginning.

I started with the Rit dye, because I saw a guy on you tube using some black and later red Rit dye on his guitar build. the finish was with tru oil, and I really liked it. So I decided to try the same stuff.
I think my problem was with the acrylic glitter lacquer. this aerosol paint is maybe just good for party decorations.

Being colour blind adds another challenging element and suggest you have someone you trust help you choose the desired shade of ink that is closest to what you want to achieve. Mixing up a colour brew is difficult enough so an off the shelf product would be easier way to go. Glitter needs to be laid with a thickened product to have any chance of sticking therefore adding with ink won't work. Personally i would test with putting some glitter in small amount of Tru Oil, shake that up really good, and then apply to scrap timber to see how it works. My guess is that may do the job and leave a sealed base to continue working on for laying down top coats.

WazKelly, I tried to put some glitter mix with my oil on a spare timber.
that was a fail, the glitter I used may not be good, there was too much of it, you could barely see the red color with these ones.

that's why i tried the varnish to fix it, and it looks like that eventually works.
I might have took off a little bit more when sanding, as well as a bit of the red on some parts. but that what happens with sanding a little bit hard, and I had to, because of the reaction of the varnish.

I used Ph. Martins Bombay India Ink from 'Riot' art & craft.
It's advertised as 'waterproof and lightfast'.
