burst is looking good, makes that rich golden top hard to stop looking at, so nice!

Thanks Guv.
Passes the 3 metre test
There are a few very small lumps in the stain that I have to flat off and also work the perimeter of the burst to soften it a bit but in reality is not as harsh and defined as it looks in the pic.
I'll hit it with the mesh pads on Monday and then the first of the clear coats unless it needs touching up anywhere, unfortunately it's unlikely to be finished before some time in October because we are out of here for a bit of a holiday away from the kids and grandies.
I have been reliably informed that there will be no guitars of any sort follow me home from Europe
That looks great Dave, just as if you saved it in the nick of time from a fire.
Hope you enjoy your holiday, even if you will be on a short leash haha!
Cheers, Waz

Yeah, the next step would have been solid black which I think would look pretty good with the gold hardware but very happy to have got through that drama.
When we were booking the trip we saved just on a gorilla in Greece and the first thing I said was I might look at guitars.
The look I got from the minister for war and finance and the travel agent made me cringe like a beaten puppy![]()
Good work Dave. The birst gives a nice frame to the gold quilt. Enjoy your hols!

#Planning 5 String Bass
Hit it with the mesh pads today which flatted everything off nicely especially the CG stain but a couple of very small spots in the burst came through so the airbrush came out again for some touch up work, revisit again on Thursday and hopefully get a coat of clear on it
Gave the body a hit with the 3 finest mesh pads today and then broke out the Dingo Wax, it was like concrete.
Sat in the sun for an hour with the lid off and it softened enough to dig a bit out to put in a plastic milk bottle cap and microwave all up close to 1:40 in 20 second increments until it was soft enough to spread with difficulty.
Has come up rather nice though
good one DK, any pics please ? haven't seen photo's for months
