That looks like it's going to work out fantastic CCG, how is the minwax to work with?

The Minwax has been a pleasure to work with so far. Now my clear coating won't be limited by Canadian weather! The fumes aren't all that bad and it goes on fast and easy. After I sanded back the first coat it was really uneven and I started to think it was going to be a mess, but as I said I just decided to have faith and keep going. I still have a few more coats to go then we'll see how nice and shiny I can make the finished product. Hopefully good enough that I feel bad about lightly relicing it.

The saga continues. So here is what she looks like after sanding back with 400 then 600.



This is the sixth (???) coat of poly freshly applied. Starting to look pretty smooth.

I think I know where you're coming from on that Andrew, I'm Unsold on using it but I've a project that may need it as DT and TO aren't viable options.

What are your reservations for using poly? The main selling point for me was not having to deal with rattle can spraying since I'm not well set up for a make-shift spray booth at my house. We'll see how the finished product turns out before I make it my go to though. I hope it doesn't rob me of my sweet poplar tonezzzz.

It's more about the material I'm applying it to CCG, I've got a resin filled void in there and I just need to check out if there's going to be any sort of reaction with potential finishes. More experimentation for the FrankenLab.

I finally finished with the poly on the body! I then destroyed my pristine finish in an attempt to give it that 1963 feel. All things considered I don't think it turned out too bad for my first attempt at a relic job.
