Hi DB07, sure can polish tru-oil, as long as its well cured from the last coat.
Most people give it a light wet sand with 1500 or 2000 grit, then hit the cut and polish
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

Not after every coat as they go on so thin you would just strip the last one or three off without realising it.

Best to get a few coats done and the finish will kind of tell you when it needs a light sanding, usually between 4 - 8 coats.

Have since read about the wet sanding with TO application method and will be giving that a go on my latest build after around 3 or 4 coats have sealed in the colour scheme.
