She did give it a good sniff first, but I was pretty keen

I've given it a light sand with some 400 up to 1200 so smooth it off, feels pretty good, the only issue is that in some of the punkier parts of the spalting there's some pluck out where some grain has lifted out but I think that's the price you pay for the funky spalt and once it's finished I don't think it will be an issue, I have to look pretty hard to see it as it is and I've probably need to pull out the macro tubes to take a decent photo of it.

Put the first coat of the clear stain coat one, should come up looking good

Yeah I kind of agree...still.....Zandits LP had some flame as well
