Looks great HB. What did you use on the neck as a finish?

I used Light Tan Nugget Boot poilsh as a stain!!, read it on a woodworking web site. Then Dingo Tone Finishing final coat, it is now curing, 15 odd days to go. Then cut and Polish.

    Looks great.

Was in a music shop a couple of weeks ago and there were 2 Fender Strat Custom Shops with maple necks & fret boards with a darker finish but yours looks much better and I guess way cheaper than the $4k to $5k price tag they were wearing. Reckon a tin of nugget would still leave change out of $10 bucks.

Thanks Waz, nice compliment. The body is the next challege, the quilted maple top took the DingoTone Blue OKAY but on the Basswood body the timber took on a green tinge, so I scrapped that idea and sanded it back, toying with the idea of a slightly Orangs tinge on back and sides as orange on opposite side of the color side for blue Or migh try to color match to neck using Darker Nugget,,,Wont know for 2 weeks whilst body top cures.

Why not use some Blue Nugget Boot Polish to tie in with the neck?

Alternatively I was only thinking earlier today just how good an all over Tan or Darker Brown Boot Polish would look if I was ever to build a more natural looking beast, based purely on the great job you have done with that neck.

On each of the 3 basswood bodies I have built the necks were stained same colour as the Basswood body and Maple Neck as they were of a similar light shade and reckon if you did same colour toned boot polish it should come out pretty close. Always best to start out lighter as you can always go darker whereas the other way around usually ends up with lots of sanding back to try again.

Hey Waz, trying a test patch DARK TAN on the body today...NO Blue Nugget exists..Keep you posted...Earlier indications got me thinking a Black coat sanded back then finished in dark tan...The body you speak of is a classic Gibson Les Paul job...Front is a burst/color and neck and body sides match..Got time and Nugget costs $3.64...Might try neutral nugget melted down with blue computer ink added then cooled!!!! Based on this google search you might need to use another brand..... https://www.google.com.au/search?q=b...HWqvD68QsAQINg Mister Minute kiosks in shopping centres often have colour change bottles mainly used on ladies shoes plus they also have a big range of colours and reckon they would have blue in traditional 'Nugget' style too.

Hope you have a long white lab coat handy if going down the mad scientist path. Things could get messy.
