Simon I don't know if you know but try and make sure you never unplug the FireWire while the PC and FireWire hardware are powered up. You can mess up the FireWire . I've sent you the Digi 002 Manual in your email checkout page 7 ref testing your Digi 002

Cheers mate, yep, I always make sure I power down my Audio Interfaces and the PC when plugging and unplugging, the funny thing is, Firewire is/was supposed to be hot plug-n-playable, well that's how it was marketed anyway, I'll have a good read of that pdf you emailed me.

That makes sense, looks like I may have inadvertently fried the Firewire ports on the back of my Digi 002, the symptoms they are describing in that article sound a lot like the symptoms displayed by my Digi 002.

I wonder if it is possible to replace the circuit board that the Firewire ports are on?

The serial number of my Digi 002 ends with the letter "K", but still, the symptoms described sound similar to what I've been experiencing.

Doc I know when a Digi 002 is connected that the FireWire light doesn't light up, until it boots into pro tools.
Not sure if it's the same with other DAWS but worth a check connect it up open your favourite DAW set it up your DAW in your software see if FireWire light comes on then. Worth a try

I actually tried that a few times yesterday, I tried it with FL Studio and the led did not light up and there was no sound, what did happen was that my PC started locking up and I had to do a hard reset to get it running again.

Take it to buddies house, music shop test it there Doc. Or get a TI FireWire card. But it sounds like your PC is having major problems could be motherboard problem/power supply. So I'd sort that first get the Digi 002 tested on something other than your computers.
